Question:
how much does gpa matter when it comes to getting a job?
Answer(s):
There's no objective answer to this question. Most employers will care about whether you have the appropriate skills for their position, not whether you aced your modern european history exam. If you have less than a 2.0 (totally arbitrary), you should be concerned. Otherwise, don't worry about it - work hard and you'll be fine.
Depends on what field you're in, but for the most part coming out of school with a B.A, experience is much more important than grades. Employers want demonstrated competency and experience, and having a good GPA is only one way of showing that. Obviously anything less than a 3.0 does not look good, no matter how much other experience you have, but if you have a good balance of internship/work experience you're more likely to get the job. Of course, you don't have to list your GPA on your resume (unless it's really good and you think it makes you look like a more qualified candidate), so in that sense it doesn't matter much at all, although being able to say you were on the Dean's List or graduated with honors is a great achievement and will definitely make you stand out. However, its SO HARD to get a job related to your major when you come out with just a Bachelors degree, so if you're looking at further education, GPA does matter and will depend on what school/program you want to get into.
Unless you have failed all of your classes (Or anything really below 2.0) you really shouldn't worry.
A high GPA is still a good starter, so don't give up!
Its mostly about your experience but a bad GPA doesn't look good either.
I think it is always a good idea to get the best grades you can now. with jobs becoming more competitive it could come down to you and another applicant with the same resume, but you a better GPA
There's really no reason to put your GPA on your resume unless you made honor role every semester, and it's actually worth bragging about. If not, just leave it off, and let the rest of your accomplishments/experience speak for themselves.
well it matters a lot to get into another school otherwise not so much.
its great to have a good GPA because it couldnt hurt, it would just be another strength you have against another person.
