Pros - Cheap, fun, close by.
Cons - too packed, lower quality runs than the other places, a few lifts always seem broken

Eldora gets a bad reputation. Its close to boulder, its cheaper than the other resorts up the interstate, and the snow is pretty good. They also have a decent park.

It comes down to the whole price vs. quality debate.
As we all know (normally) the more you pay, the better the quality.
Eldora is on the cheaper end of the spectrum

its really close but it is not worth it. Its just a not as good since you are in Colorado.
