Question:
How could CU become more transparent and helpful for transfer students who want to get credit for past classes?

I think it is unhelpful and unreasonable that CU does not consider taking transfer credits from Naropa when I am sure that their writing or psychology courses at least could count for something at CU.
I think it is unhelpful and unreasonable that CU does not accept any transfer credits from Naropa. They should treat it like any other institution by looking at the course content and seeing if it matches with anything at CU. This is especially relevant for writing and psych courses.
It seems like there should be a more personal way to go about this (rather than/in addition to submitting syllabi). Perhaps there could be an actual meeting (in person) set up where students could discuss their course work with an advisor who knows about the subject/could help them. It seems like CU could accept more credit into specific categories more easily, in general. For instance, I took a genetics biology class at a different university that did not automatically count toward science credit.

I thin it isn't just a matter of talking about CU as a whole, but also about the individual counselors. Some are spectacular when it comes down to fixing that sort of thing
Make petitioning for credit that you weren't initially given easier.
create a chart of the classes they will accept transfer credit for.
Always a good idea to get a petition going, but just try and make the case that classes from other universities are similar enough to the classes at CU.
you can try talking to your advisor about how you can get maximum credit
They can make it more clear and explicit on the main website about Transfer credits and AP/IB courses
