I've checked out books from the science stacks. Although some of the books are hard to find (at least for me), they offer access to valuable information that is hard to find online.

I have checked out books there several times. The vast majority of journal articles are online, but sometimes a paper will reference a book and you need to go look it up to see what they're talking about

You can't always find what you want from an article, and the science stacks have pretty extensive resources all in one place. Sometimes it's easier to get information from a book where someone has already compiled information from many sources together for you.

Both have pros and cons.
Books are more exhaustive on a single topic, wheras the interwebs will give you some knowledge about a large variety of things.

Yes there is some information in there that you can't simply look up online because it might not be reliable
