Question:
Are rockstar energy drink really that bad for you?
Answer(s):
A similar question was recently asked regarding red bull. I gave the same response:
"The amounts of guarana, taurine, and ginseng found in popular energy drinks are far below the amounts expected to deliver either therapeutic benefits or adverse events. However, caffeine and sugar are present in amounts known to cause a variety of adverse health effects."
In short, one of the most unhealthy aspects of [Rockstar] is the caffeine itself (along with the sugar). If you're drinking it for a caffeine fix, then the best you can do is look for something with less sugar, like coffee. Or skip on some sweets or something to try to make up for it.
If the sugar and high fructose corn syrup dont take their toll on your body, they definetly will find your gums
Like everything, it's not that bad for you in moderation.
The amounts of caffeine and sugar on a Rockstar are concerning, maybe try the sugar free Rockstar instead if anything?
Also, Organic energy drinks are getting more and more popular (Brain ToniQ, SeO2)and they are caffeine free and don't have fake sugars, and they work for me when I'm trying to study. They are on the expensive side though 2-2.40 bucks per bottle at Kings Soopers.
Yes because of the high concentration of sugar they enters your body. One won't kill you but I believe a daily routine habit will likely have bad health consquences.
If you drink in moderation, no they aren't that bad for you. But growing dependent on them and drinking more then one a day could lead to diabetes
Also do not drink more than one at a time. This may seem obvious but many athletes, including myself, have done this and it can lead to heart failure at the time.
Yes, they are very very high in sugar and calories.
I provided this same answer for the question a bit earlier about drinking Red Bull every day:
It definitely depends upon your caffeine tolerance. Me, caffeine doesn't do much for me, but I don't drink it very often, especially not in the form of energy drinks. I drink tea a lot, and that has less than the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee, much less than that in an energy drink such as Red Bull. My boyfriend, however, can chug caffeine like water and get nothing out of it except a little rush. As a third example, my dad abused caffeine a lot when he was younger - he drank coffee all the time, took caffeine pills, and generally used it too much. Anymore, he has to get decaf coffee or he gets uncomfortable palpitations because he used it too much when he was younger and now it adversely affects his system. Also, he can tell if the coffee is caffeinated within one or two sips (weird, I know).
The point I'm trying to get at is that caffeine consumption is okay in small amounts, but drinking Red Bull every day probably isn't the best idea and could lead to a caffeine sensitivity later in life that could adversely affect you. It depends a lot on your caffeine tolerance and your habits.
Anything with that much sugar isnt good for you. Our bodies werent made to take in that much sugar at a time.
I don't think so. Spike energy drink is more worse than Rockstar, thus why they made it so you have to be 18 to buy a Spike energy drink.
