Question:
what are the policies about taking transfer credits at a community college?
Answer(s):
As far as I know you have to apply for transfer approval as early as February or march if you want to take it in the summer. I would talk to your advisor.
There has to be a similar course offered at the university for credit to be transferred, take a list of the classes you intend to take to your advisor.
There is a list of classes you can get from your advising office and they are guaranteed transferable in Colorado for the exact credit. I took all my classes off this list, and they transfered fine.
Most classes you take at another college will transfer over but make sure to check. I took a writing course that was much much easier than the one at CU at a community college and it transferred over no problem. I would highly suggest it.
The best way to know about the policies is to talk to your advisor or seek other professional advice. You have to apply for the credits to transfer, and it has to be approved. However, some classes offered in community colleges are guaranteed transfer classes - that is, the class is pre-approved or they know that there is a class similar enough at any university in the area that would take that credit. It depends upon the class, though. If you are unsure, consult your advisor.
just make sure they are direct transfer to ensure that they will be counted as full credit.
Talk to your advsior
You need to talk to your advisor. I'm an engineering major and asked my advisor 2 weeks ago what community college credits transfer and she gave me a sheet of paper about the class name at the community colleges that transfer for my major.
you should talk to your advisor to make sure first that the credits will transfer
There is a limited list of courses that you can transfer over from community college see your advisor
