Question:
Who is Alfred Packer? And why is the UMC grill named after him?
Answer(s):
He's the guy who lead an expedition of prospectors through the Rocky Mountains in the winter of 1873. The got hopelessly lost and resulted to cannibalism. He was the only one that survived. They named the grill after him because he was from Colorado and his party was trying to make it from Utah to Breckenridge. But mostly they named it after him because its funny.
He was the first person in CO convicted of cannibalism. When you go on tours of CU they tell you the motto/slogan is "Have a friend for lunch."
Some Cannibal guy that ate all of his friends
A hiker from sunny Colorado who resulted to cannabalism in the 1800's. He's from this great state, so I reckon that's why they named it after him... Plus, it's got a bit of a ring to it... Alfred Packer.
